Summer Time

So my summer is become exciting. Yesterday (5-19-03) I was awaken around 3 in the morning to an annoing beeping sound. Come to find out it was the fire alarm. I was half alseep and did not smell smoke so I went bakc ot sleep. But right before I did, I heard Ruthie get up and dad came down the stairs. There was no smoke and dad figured it was the humidity since he turn the air up some. This has happended before. I guess we have a good fire alarm. At least I woke up to this alarm. The last time it went off on one of its "tests", I did not wake up!! Dad was kinda concerned about that!:)
This was just the beginning of a heckic day.
Who said living in the country is boring. I got to feel the excitment of the ER, but with out the hospital setting. (I love having a medical family.) Since most people around here know my family is in the medical field, they usually call on one of use when there is something major or minorly wrong. Yesterday was one of those days. An older couple in my church which lives a couple miles away from us called yesterday afternoon for help. The wife called and stated that her husband was bleeding very badly because he had fallen through bobwire while mowing. Now this older gentleman has been very close to death in the past year or two and has recovedred greatly. Mom and I ran around the house gathering bandages and supplies and rushed out the door. When we got their the elderly man was sitting on the ground (he had feel into an area where it was extremly muddy and the cow "waste" was if you catch my drift). He had moved himeself down the fence row and crawled out onto the grass. His arms were cut up very badly( which I was impressed that he had stopped bleeding since he is most likely on an anticoagulant(blood thinner). I saw the fat gobules hanging out of his arm and the muscle and all that fun stuff. Mom tried to being the cleaning, but it hurt him to much so we wrapped his arm with one layer of gauze and decided the ER would be the best decision. We had the help of another neighbor and we started to move him very slowly to try and get him in the car. We thought about calling the ambulence, however it would take to much time for them to get out to him and take hime to the hospital. We could make it in less time (We were later confirmed that we made it before the ambulence could have). The elderly man almost past out several times, how ever he did not. He refused to go to the hospital with all the mud on him. So we changed his clothing carefully and got him in the car. (He was worried about getting the car dirty). The wife drove while mom was in the back seat tring to make the ride as comfortable as possible. I followed with our car behind them. Once we got on the high way I tried to keep up, but decided it was best to stay around the speed limit since I did not have my licence on my at that time and did not want a ticket. Let me tell you that lady can drive!! She has done this several times in the past year of so though. ONce we got to the hospital I found a parking spot close by which is a miricle all in itself. I made it over to the car in time ot help get him in the wheel chair. Mom and I stayed out to clean ourselves up and also their car before going in to the wife.
This moring I found out that the had to perform surgery to do all the cleaning and he might have to have skin graphs. I pray he recovers quickly.
It took several washing offs and a shower to get clean from the mud. After this exciting event we came home to find a note to call a friend of the family who is only a couple years older than me who stated he was having low BP and was dizz when setting up. Mom called him back and talked with him for a while. Then Ruthie had a volien recital that night. After the recital we stopped by a friends house to tour it since she just had it built. We found out that her grandmother was addmitted to another neighboring hosptial with congetivve heart failure and other medical problems. !! WOW, let me tell you this was quite the day. Well I guess if I cant tell you events in my life in person I will have to settle for tellin ghtem on here! I hope you all are doing well and are having a great restful break!!!
I love you all!!!
