I am back! :)
God was a work the whole week the 29 of us from 13 states traveled to Honduras. We were afraid we would not make it outof Miami because Hurricaine Wilma was coming on strong. But at the last minute it slowed down and pretty much was at a halt. We made it out of Sunny Miami with no difficulties. We landed in San Pedro Sul. Then took off to Tegucigalpa were we landed and then drove by bus approx 4 hrs to San Marcos de Colon were we would be living for the next week. Most of us stayed at the Baptist Mission while the couples and families stayed approx. 5-10 min away at the seminary. We set up clinic at the Good Samaritan Elem. School. The facilities were wonderful. We had the evangalism first. then triage where i worked. Then we sent them to Ortho, Family Med. Ped's, or gyn. We also had dentist and one optimologist which saw their own pts. We saw approx 2300 pts in 4 1/2 days. We could not have done any of this without the logistic people and our interpreters. They were all wonderful. Everyone on the team worked so well together. It was simply amazing. We traveled out to a village approx 45 min drive into the mountains were we worked in a village with approx 4000 people on Tue, Wen, and Thursday. I went on Wen. Triage was me and my great interpreter Frank. We say more than 100 pts that day. It was simply amazing. Then after we were done. I helped out in dentistry by cleaning the utensils, while the dentist and his interpreter Milton extracted teeth! The ride to and from the village was breath taking. We actually got to stop and take pic of Nicarga. Just to sit in the van and see all the wonderful creations God made was....breath taking:). On Friday was worked a half day for the members of the church/school. Then headed back to Teguc. Were we made it back to the hotel that night. We ate supper and pretty much went to bed. Very exhausting day. Saturday we traveled to an orphanage were we spent some time with the children. I loved that. Some of the children's parents were still alive, but could not afford to feed the children. So the parents were giving up their children for a better life. That was hard to grasp. But even harder for the parents! We had out "Tourist" time to shop then went to lunch. After going back to the hotel we could walk into the town, but I stayed back and played cards with Fernando (interpreter), Milton (they are brothers). Kerri Ann (RN), Izabela (DR), Rachel (pharm). That was so much fun. I was so thankful for that time. Then we went to a nice steak house (yes I am still on the mission trip:)) for dinner kinda our last supper together. I was so happy when we were getting ready to leave for the steak house I looked infront of the bus and Frank was standing there. He had told my roomie that he was not going to be back and as soon as Bev told me that I started to cry. Why ? That is not like me. I just felt so connected to him. But I was so excited to see him!! It was nice to sit and talk with Frank even though we did n't have much time on the way back. We made it to the airport's with no difficulty even though Hurricaine Beta was on Nicaraga. God held this hurricaine back so we could make it out with no difficulties. It was just an amazing trip. I really want to be there instead of here right now. I loved all our team members. I hope we can all keep in touch and share what God is doing in out lives.
